Caring for people with mental illness requires specialized knowledge about the medications they take for conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. It also requires a compassionate approach and an understanding of the types of services these individuals need and deserve.

With these considerations in mind, the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists Foundation has created the Mental Health Pharmacy™ Directory. Its purpose is to help connect individuals with mental illness and their families, as well as people working in various health care industries, with specialty pharmacies and pharmacists who provide compassionate and knowledgeable care for people with mental health conditions.

Mental health pharmacies often provide services not always available at typical pharmacies such as dispensing and monitoring clozapine, administering injectable antipsychotics, monitoring for treatment-related side effects, providing special packaging to support medication schedules, or conducting comprehensive medication reviews to ensure that all medications are working well with minimal side effects.

Through the Mental Health Pharmacy Directory, we hope to link those affected by mental illness with people in their community who are focused on providing exceptional care.
